BIOGRAPHY
Nalika, an attractive singer/songwriter from London, UK, writes and sings about her everyday experiences whilst searching for love. Listen to Nalika's lyrics and see how you begin to reflect on your own relationships.
Nalika, meaning all woman, aptly describes this exotic feminine beauty, who is a Londoner, but has roots from Sri-Lanka. Raised in the UK in a musical background of Eastern and Western influences, Nalika soon developed a taste for her passion for music from an early age. She attributes her songwriting skills to time spent studying the piano, violin, & singing whilst at school. This hard work paid off with Nalika co-writing with producers Wayne Brown, Everton McCalla and Diliup Gabadamudalige after finishing university to produce her first EP. These songs are currently available to buy on itunes and cdbaby. She has since gone on to record a new EP which she intends to release in the near future. These songs will soon be available to buy on i-tunes and cdbaby too.
Nalika has been busy gigging in London to showcase her new material since the latter part of 2008. Nalika has recently played live acoustic sets at venues such as The Troubadour, The Regal Rooms and The Living Room.
To date, Nalika’s songs have had airplay on East London radio station, Sound Radio, and internet radio station www.bcl.net/magazine.html (Richard Allen’s Magazine show), they have featured on Gotham Records’ Bandit 2006 sampler (a compilation CD of music by unsigned artists) and her video for ‘Still on Your Mind’ has been aired on Channel U – Sky channel 360 (music channel featuring music by unsigned artists).
Nalika draws her inspiration for both writing and singing from successful artists such as Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Sade, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Gabrielle, Corinne Bailey-Rae and Morcheeba.
